Seven Grandfathers
This lesson plan is a part of an overall course entitled "Indigenous beliefs, values, and aspirations in a contemporary society".
The lesson plan 'the seven grandfathers' is designed to help the learner explore the concept of value development within themselves, their family, their community, and within a greater Canadian context.
Overall Expectations:
By the end of this course, students will:
Explore their Indigenous Identity by describing the elements of culture reflected in various art forms such as stories depicting traditions, values and beliefs.
Specific Expectations:
By the end of this course, students will:
Describe gender roles in the creation and maintenance of traditions, values, and beliefs in traditional and contemporary Indigenous art forms.
Identify symbols found in the traditional and contemporary art forms and stories of specific Indigenous groups.
Explain how symbols/stories represent specific Indigenous cultures.
Explain the importance of art form/stories to a cultural group.
