Feelings and Art Form
This lesson plan is part of Self Efficacy and Indigenous Development Curriculum. The chapter this lesson plan is in is called "Expressing my Indigenous Identity". The title of the lesson plan is Feelings and Art Form.
The lesson plan is designed for facilitators who are working with Indigenous child, youth, and young peoples. Helping Indigenous youth know their feelings, know self preservation and self expression are all a part of this lesson plan. The specific expectations are below:
Overall Expectations:
By the end of this course, students will:
- Demonstrate understanding of the relationships among Aboriginal peoples, their environments, and art form expression.
- Develop coping skills for teens to help them manage stressful situations in a healthy way.

- Identify the strategies and processes used to improve emotional literacy by creating traditional Indigenous art forms.
- Demonstrate understanding of the skills used to create Indigenous art forms.
- Identify appropriate resources, themes, strategies, and processes for creating traditional Indigenous art form.
- We are living in an era of renewal, reconciliation and reclaiming our identities.
- Our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well being is important to the overall development; how we see things, how we do things, how we learn, how we express and develop our creative self.
